Nothing makes a better birthday present than a piece of beautiful memory jewelry from Moonglow. If you’re looking to buy for someone else, or to treat yourself, we’ve definitely got something you’re going to love!
Each piece of custom jewelry is made with your special moon phase on it, ready to absorb the light from the sun and glow like the moon. There are eight great moon phases to pick from to have printed on your custom necklace or bracelet, so which one do you pick? And more importantly…how do you know which one to pick?
Moon Phase Calendar
The moon phase calendar and lunar cycle is a 28-29 day cycle that tracks the eight major phases of the moon as it rotates and revolves around us in the sky.
The phases of the moon:
- New Moon Phase
- Waxing Crescent Moon Phase
- First Quarter Moon Phase
- Waxing Gibbous Moon Phase
- Full Moon Phase
- Waning Gibbous Moon Phase
- Third Quarter Moon Phase
- Waning Crescent Moon Phase
The days between the true phases are described by the percentage or degree of the moon that’s visible to Earth.
How do the moon phases work?
The moon doesn’t emit any light of its own, what we see in the sky is simply a reflection of the suns light bouncing back towards Earth. The moon revolves around the Earth, and the Earth revolves around the sun, so the light isn’t always reflecting directly towards Earth and when it’s at an angle it’s represented as a different phase.
Every memorable day has a special moon phase attached to it, and these are the days we want to put on your custom memory jewelry!
Memorable Events for Custom Moon Jewelry
Every day is memorable in their own way, but some days are more worthy of being immortalized through custom jewelry.
Typically, weddings or other important anniversaries, like the anniversary of a first kiss, or first date, or the day you and your significant other got engaged are great dates to pick for custom necklaces and jewelry.
But the biggest hit for our custom jewelry has got to go to Birthdays. Not just your own birthday, but your spouse’s birthday and your children’s birthdays are also great to immortalize on the custom necklaces or bracelets.
What’s the Moon Phase on my Birthday?
Personally, the moon phase on my birthday this year is going to be the waning crescent moon phase, and on the actual day I was born, it was the Waning gibbous moon phase.
How did I find that out? I used the Moonglow Moon Phase Calendar on their home page. It’s a quick and easy way to select moon phase jewelry that works for your specific date. It’s built into the website in such a way that it has the specific moon phase for every day of every year from 1919 to 2020.
Simply plug in the date, and soon you’ll know what the moon phase was on your birthday!
You’ve probably heard of the zodiac, both western and Chinese, but there is one more thing that affects your personality. It’s in the same vein as both of these things, but instead of being dictated by the day, the month, or the year of your birth, it’s indicated by the moon phase you were born under.
Each personality is slightly different than the others, and each brings as many good and bad things to the table as another. Each personality can be summed up in a few words, though it doesn’t begin to do justice to each rich and complicated set of personality traits that are attached to the different phases.
- New moon phase– the gardener, the planter, the grower
- Waxing crescent phase – the bullheaded stubborn one
- The first quarter phase – the rebel with a cause
- The Waxing Gibbous phase – the healer, the nurse and repair technician
- The Full Moon Phase - the expressive one, the artist
- The Waning Gibbous phase – the teacher, educator, moralist
- The Third Quarter phase – the understanding one, the listener, and interpreter
- The Waning Crescent phase – the thinker, the philosopher
When you figure out what the moon phase on your birthday will be, be sure to look up what your lunar personality is as well!
